Morris & Doherty has filed a lawsuit on behalf of a doctor whose office manager embezzled over $2 million. The complaint alleges Comerica Bank violated both Michigan and federal law when it accepted for deposit hundreds of checks containing forged endorsements. Paul Doherty is lead counsel.

Ed Morris appeared before the 6th Circuit Federal Court of Appeals to argue on behalf of a 73 year old dentist who was the victim of age discrimination. In the trial court, the jury returned a verdict of $480,000. A decision is expected before year end.

A settlement of $425,000 was obtained on behalf of a Macomb County woman who slipped and fell in wet cement and sustained a low back injury. A case evaluation panel had previously recommended an award of $300,000, which partner Paul Doherty recommended be rejected because it was too low.Â

An Oakland County jury returned a verdict in favor of the firm’s client for $338,000. Paul Doherty was retained only two weeks before trial. The case involved trip and fall with a resulting shoulder injury. The highest offer to settle was $15,000.

Ed Morris finalized settlement of a class action involving approximately 26,000 individuals and businesses who were not provided promised advertising benefits. The settlement provides for future advertising benefits at reduced charges.Â
