About Us
Founded in 1990, Morris & Doherty, P.C. has prided itself on providing individualized and aggressive representation to individuals and businesses alike. While our size requires that we must be selective about the cases we accept, once we agree to undertake representation, we become a committed partner to our client’s cause.
We are honored that our peers have recognized our skills and reputation. We are “AV” rated (the highest rating) by a national attorney rating service and we are routinely called upon by other lawyers to assist them with their difficult cases.
Our vast trial experience includes cases involving serious injuries, employment and housing discrimination, consumer fraud, malpractice, shareholder oppression, product liability and business disputes. We have also been appointed by various courts as lead counsel in several class actions. However, it is our results in the court room that we are most proud of. Some of our recent trial results include:
-
$4.3 million verdict, affirmed on appeal, on behalf of a commercial plumbing contractor against the City of Detroit
-
$1.5 million dollar verdict on behalf of a former City of Detroit mayoral candidate whose accounting firm was wrongfully denied work by an international accounting firm
-
$450,000 jury verdict, believed to be the largest in Michigan history, for an African-American family denied housing
-
Recent verdicts of $871,000, $443,000, $527,000, $469,000 and $200,000 in separate employment discrimination trials
-
$338,000 verdict for a 61 year old man for injuries sustained when he fell while working. The largest settlement offer was only $15,000.
While willing and able to take a case through trial, Morris & Doherty understands that settlement is often in the best interest of the client when a fair and reasonable offer is made. We firmly believe, however, that it is our reputation in the courtroom that positions our clients and us to settle cases on the best possible terms.
